A quantity of white cloth, government-issued buckets, mosquito nets and other relief materials was reportedly recovered from a local office of the All India Trinamool Congress in the Shimla Kalitala area of Rajdharpur Gram Panchayat in Srirampur, Hooghly. Authorities and local residents also found cots and bedding inside the two-storey premises.
The office is reportedly associated with former gram panchayat chief and former local party president Mohan Mondal. The recovered materials were found during a visit to the premises, prompting questions regarding the presence of relief-related items inside a political party office.
BJP workers alleged that white sarees had been sent to the homes of BJP supporters during elections as a means of intimidation or humiliation. They also accused Trinamool leaders of storing government-owned relief materials in the party office and distributing them selectively. Police have not publicly commented on these allegations.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are examining why the materials were being kept inside the party office. Authorities are also looking into whether any rules or procedures were violated in connection with the storage of the recovered items.
